GREENWICH, Conn. --The Treetops Chamber Music Society in Greenwich-Stamford is ready for its season opening concert on Sunday.

The concert starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at Treetops on 359 Merriebrook Lane in Stamford, former home of torch singer Libby Holman and American abstract artist Louis Schanker, according to a news release from the society. The concert is set to feature mezzo soprano Kathryn Findlen, pianist Richard Masters and Treetops' artistic director and clarinetist Oskar Espina Ruiz.

"I am constantly looking for new great repertoire: true new classics in the making," said Treetops artistic director Oskar Espina Ruiz in the release. "I was aware of the freshness and classic beauty of Frazelle's music, but when I heard Kathryn Findlen sing 'Songs in the Rearview Mirror' in North Carolina, I knew this was something big.

"Kathryn Findlen and Richard Masters went on to present this work to a full house at Carnegie Hall last spring and toured with it extensively afterward. I can't wait to hear it at Treetops. I believe that if Libby Holman were alive she would want to join us on stage. This song cycle really feels to me like the American Songbook in the making; something that can't be missed."

The first half of the program is set to "explore the culture of Southern Spain and feature Falla's 'Siete canciones populares españolas' for mezzo and piano; Nin's 'En el Jardín de Lindaraja' for clarinet and piano; Ginastera's 'Cinco canciones populares argentinas' for mezzo and piano; Turina's 'Tríptico' for mezzo and piano; and Montsalvatge's 'Self-Paráfrasis' for clarinet and piano, followed by his 'Cinco canciones negras' for mezzo and piano," according to the release. The second half of the program "explores the music of American composer Kenneth Frazelle, with his 'Fiddler's Galaxy' for clarinet and piano and 'Songs in the Rearview Mirror' for mezzo and piano," according to the release.

An art exhibit from John Arabolos will accompany the performance, and a free reception for the exhibit will follow the concert.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office or by mail with a ticket order form or PayPal by visiting the Treetops website. Residents can also call the box office at 203-979-6052 or email boxoffice@treetopscms.org for more information. Tickets are $30 for subscribers with single tickets set at $45.
