Greenwich, Purchase To Split Vanbiesbrouck Charity Golf And Tennis Tourney

GREENWICH, Conn. -- John Vanbiesbrouck made a living playing professional ice hockey. Now the former New York Rangers goaltender is testing his skills on the golf course and on the tennis courts of Greenwich and Purchase, respectively, in the name of charity.

The Alan T. Brown Foundation will present the 27th Annual John Vanbiesbrouck ProAm Golf and Tennis Tournament beginning at 9 a.m. on Aug. 3 with a registration and brunch for all participants at the Tamarack Country Club, 55 Locust Rd., Greenwich.

The afternoon tees off at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start to the golf tournament. Collared shirts are required, while jeans and cargo shorts, as well as metal spikes and cell phones, are prohibited on the course.

The tennis tournament begins at noon at Old Oaks Country Club, 3100 Purchase St., Purchase. There is a white dress code.

The foundation will provide transportation for golfers to Old Oaks Country Club for a cocktail party at 4:30 p.m. An awards dinner and auction -- honoring Daniel J. Bussani, Vice President of Bussani Mobility, and Standing Tall Award Recipient Dr. Arthur L. Jenkins III, Associate Professor, Departments of Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital -- will follow at 5:30 p.m.
