For this appearance, Vignola, who played a Peterson concert at the library in 2011, will collaborate with the comparably gifted six-string player Vinny Raniolo. With a repertoire encompassing every genre from jazz to bluegrass, Vignola’s pedigree, including performances and recordings with Donald Fagen, David Grisman and Les Paul, is considered one of the best among his peers.
As a young adult, Vignola studied at the Cultural Arts Center of Long Island and went on to enjoy enormous popularity as a sideman in the 1980s, recording and touring with the likes of Madonna, Leon Redbone and Ringo Starr. Raniolo has played with Tommy Emmanuel, Bucky Pizzarelli, David Grisman and Tony Trischka. Over the past four years, he has played hundreds of concerts as a duo with Vignola. The twosome performed and recorded for the syndicated radio show "Mountain Stage" in October.
The Peterson Concert Series is open to all at no charge through the support of the board of trustees and generous donors. Doors open at 3 p.m., and seating is limited. Contact music librarian David Waring at dwaring@greenwichlibrary.org for more information.
