In this offbeat but exciting debut feature film by writer/director Richard Kelly, Donnie, a troubled teenager played by Jake Gyllenhaal is plagued by visions of a large, creepy bunny rabbit that manipulates him into committing a series of crimes after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident.
"Donnie Darko" is a unique example of a commercial film failure resuscitated by audience demand, not the dictates of the market, hence its cult status.
