If you're between ages 25 and 44, savvy, confident, chic, caring and curious, then you are the target readership of The Greenwich Girl Magazine, an online lifestyle publication started three years ago by Laura McKittrick.

McKittrick, born and raised in Greenwich, said she always loved to write but never thought of it as a career until she compiled her personal journals and thought, "Maybe I should write a book."

The mission of the magazine is to showcase luxury living from the perspective of a born and raised Greenwich Girl (aka McKittrick) with a special focus on local brands, shops and restaurants (though they also include all things luxury worldwide).

And, surprisingly, not every reader is a "girl." "The GG Magazine caters to anyone and everyone," said McKittrick. "We have all sorts of fans and readers -- men, women, teenagers, grandmas  -- age and gender do not matter nor does geographic location." (A large number of her followers are from Europe.)

It's a long way from what McKittrick envsioned. She said she began the website after writing three manuscripts for a Greenwich Girl series of fiction books that was rejected 26 times. So, she started a blog, which then morphed into a hyperlocal marketing platform which quickly transformed into a digital magazine.

Just a month ago she signed for her first two book deal with an agency based out of New York City.

Along the way, she learned what she likes to call "The Greenwich Girl Pearls," most of which are related to building a brand and business from nothing.

"There is such a misconception about Greenwich and the name 'Greenwich Girl' can come off in the same type of wrong way but what I have learned about my readers is that luxury is about quality and not the money," she said.

And yes, there are more plans in the works. "This is just the beginning," said McKittrick. "My first book will unroll at the end of 2015 and the expansion of The GG brand with various collaborations will extend nationwide as well as to the islands over the next six months."

For now, the magazine is monthly and the website is updated daily, but stay tuned. Go to TheGreenwichGirl.com.
