GREENWICH, Conn. – Two top landscaping and garden designers from Greenwich were featured in the Home & Garden Section of the New York Times in an article titled, “The Garage That Bloomed,” about the creation of the Lotus Garden about 30 years ago.
Mark and Carrie Greenwald of Maher & Greenwald Fine Gardens were just starting a business partnership when they negotiated an agreement with the Zeckendorf organizations and the residents of the West Side community to build the rooftop community garden.
The 7,000-square-foot rooftop garden is considered one of New York City's “hidden treasures,” according to the article.
The Greenwalds have continued to provide the community with residential designs. They recently won another National Landscape Design Award from the Perennial Plant Association for a residential project that overlooks Norwalk Harbor. They also won a Greenwich Green and Clean award for their gardens at the Town Hall Annex on Havemeyer.
