Ben Albano, a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Addison Albano, a senior at Brunswick School; and Austen Albano, a sophomore at King; organized the third annual Grand Prix New York fundraiser.

“We are proud to be raising money for the Project Yellow Light scholarship fund, but especially to be raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving,” Addison Albano said in a press release.

“We raised 50 percent more than last year through the generosity of our sponsors including lead sponsor Paraco Gas, Gerber Group, Petro Home Services, Fresh Green Light Driving School, Rey Insurance Agency, Skip Barber Racing School, and Aux Delices.”

The Albano brothers signed up participants from schools throughout Fairfield County and Westchester County, N.Y.

Sixteen of the 20 teams in the race included students from Brunswick School, Greenwich Academy, Greenwich Country Day School, Greenwich High School, King, Sacred Heart, and Scarsdale Middle School.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to carry this tradition for a fourth year in 2016 and continue to bring the message to my peers about how dangerous it is to drive while being distracted,” Austen Albano said in a press release.

The Albano brothers are the sons of Kelly and Peter Albano.
