GREENWICH, Conn. - Here is a letter from William Ellsworth, a Greenwich resident and CEO of Admiral Capital Management LLC, in support of Greenwich Board of Education candidate Anna Saras Povinelli.
Dear Editor,
I am a 20-year resident of Greenwich a small business owner in town, and a youth lacrosse coach. My two sons have been educated in the Greenwich public school system since kindergarten and are now a sophomore and a junior at Greenwich High School. We have been satisfied with the education they have received but believe more can been done to improve the quality.
The Greenwich Board of Education faces many challenges right now declining test scores, revolving door issues with the superintendent position, non-residents attending our public schools, as well as accountability issues on these topics. The BOE definitely needs new blood to push forward and tackle these issues to improve student achievement in Greenwich.
Anna Saras Povinelli is a top candidate to represent the taxpayers and students of Greenwich. I have known Anna and her family for almost 15 years and worked with her in the financial business for over five years.
She has four children in the Greenwich public school system covering elementary, middle and high school. She is very familiar with all educational issues in town and has been very active and vocal about pushing for solutions and accountability.
Anna is one of the most energetic, hardworking, and caring people I know. She has volunteered extensive amounts of her time to the school sytem and youth sports leagues in town.
She has extensive experience in real estate, financial sales and money management. Having worked with her in business, she is meticulous, results oriented and a true consensus-builder when faced with complex and difficult issues and tasks.
I wholeheartedly support her as a candidate for the BOE. She is a breath of fresh air and an idea generator that can apply her drive and extensive organizational and business experience toward improving student achievement in the town of Greenwich.
