Many lined Greenwich Avenue to cheer on the marchers with friends, family and green hats and beer.
“It’s fun even in the cold,” said Greenwich resident Lindsay Wyman. Wyman said she and her 4-year-old daughter, Ella, had joined friends who have a tailgate party every year.
Gina Hess, of Trumbull, said she comes every year to see the Trumbull marching band. “Every year I lose a kid because they join the band,” she said.
The grand marshal for the 39th annual parade was William Connolly, a lifelong Greenwich resident and artist.
Bands from Tarrytown and Port Chester in Westchester, and Fairfield, Manchester and Trumbull, joined local boys and girls clubs in marching down Greenwich Avenue.
