GREENWICH, Conn. – Three students represented Greenwich Ballet Academy at the prestigious regional competition of the Youth America Grand Prix held in Providence, R.I.
In the Pre-Competitive Division, 12-year-old Elisabeth Beyer of Rye, N.Y., performed three of her variations and was awarded second place, qualifying for the finals and also earning a scholarship to a prominent training program in New York City. Beyer placed in the Top 12 at the semifinals in 2013.
Marie Jose Esquivel and Laura Baruch competed in the Senior Division. Esquivel placed in the top 24 in the Senior Division.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for all the hard work and preparation they have done to move toward their dream of becoming professional dancers,” said Yuri Vodolaga, Greenwich Ballet's artistic director. “I’m especially thankful to the faculty, who all placed their mark of excellence on these wonderful students.”
The Youth America Grand Prix offers professional opportunities to young dancers to assist them in building a professional dance career.
The grand prix also offers educational opportunities and the chance to compete for dance company contracts, scholarships and other professional accolades in the dance world.
The Greenwich Ballet Academy was recently voted Fairfield and Westchester Counties' best ballet program by Serendipity Magazine.
