Debra Jean Longobardi looked to crowd-funding to support the publishing of the novel using Kickstarter and it paid off. She has reached her original goal of $10,000 to publish the novel but can accept even more.

Longobardi describes the tale as the exploration of a young woman who "resides on the French coast, living a lavish lifestyle full of drugs, sex, royalty and debauchery," according to the Kickstarter page.

"For the last three years, I have been writing the epic journey of Allegra Toscana, a cheerful and hopeful young woman who comes from a colorful past," Longobardi said on the Kickstarter page. "In this part-50-Shades-of-Grey part-Wolf-of-Wall-Street story, you'll meet Allegra as a little girl, living a seemingly privileged life in rural Connecticut, when in fact her home life is much more dynamic than that, being raised by a mafia hitman whose very stare instilled overwhelming fear in her."

The first chapter of the book is available online through the Kickstarter page.

"After three years of writing and putting my own finances on the line to get this book edited by a professional, I am at the half-way-point to my ultimate goal," Longobardi said on the Kickstarter page. "In order to publish my novel and bring it to the market I need your generous support. Any funds raised through this campaign will go towards finishing the editing process and then publishing the book."
