Golf Fundraiser In Greenwich Raises $50,000 For Lyme Research

GREENWICH, Conn. – The Lyme Research Alliance, the leading nonprofit supporter of cutting-edge Lyme disease research in the U.S., recently hosted its third annual charity Golf Tournament at the prestigious Stanwich Club and raised $65,000, bringing the three-year total for this event to $235,000.

Fifty-three golfers took part in 18-holes of golf, lunch, and a cocktail reception sponsored by Greenwich Hospital with Stella Artois as beverage sponsor, a silent auction and an awards ceremony.

"We want to thank everyone who made this such a wonderful event, said Peter Wild, the alliance's executive director.”Our golf committee brought together a sterling group of golfers to support our cause, we raised important money, and we appreciate the continued support of Pepe Infiniti of White Plains who donated the hole-in-one car."

The winners of this year's tournament were: 1st Place Low Gross – Malcolm McAvity, Jeff Marvin, Glen Sussman, all from Greenwich, and Peter Carlson, Riverside, Conn.; 1st Place Low Net – Joe Pellegrino, of Greenwich; Christopher Fisher of Ridgefield; Joe Carlucci of Wilton; and Bruce Graham of Old Greenwich. 2nd Place Low Net – Tony Frascella Sr. of Broomall, Pa.; Tony Frascella Jr. of Greenwich; Chris Frascella of Westport, and Leona Frascella of Broomall, Pa.

Men's and women's longest drive contests were won by Chris Fisher of Ridgefield, and Annabelle Marvin of Greenwich. The closest-to-the-pin #4 was won by Brian Given of Ridgewood, N.J.

All golfers received a golf shirt donated by the Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation, an umbrella donated by Baum Essex, Stella Artois beer stein, a one-month membership at CLAY Health Club +Spa, a Golfsmith coupon, and a copy of Greenwich Magazine, donated by Moffly Media. Pepe Infiniti offered four hole-in-one prize opportunities, with the signature 13th hole featuring a 2-year lease on a 2014 Infiniti Q50.

Committee members for the tournament were Robert Bel Bruno, Julia and Richard Comeau, Tony Frascella, Alan Herzog, and Malcolm and Dana McAvity.
