Held at the waterfront home of Laurie and Peter Grauer, Family Center's “Gatsby on the Sound” benefit captured the essence of the classic novel, "The Great Gatsby," and brought a slice of West Egg, the fictional Long Island town portrayed in the novel, to Greenwich.
Drawing on Jay Gatsby’s lavish parties for inspiration, the tented dining area featured a white, black and silver motif, an antique bar and a lounge outfitted with vintage furniture and an ice sculpture. As guests were served a sit-down dinner prepared by Food Design, they enjoyed '20s and '30s standards performed by the Marianne Bennett Orchestra. After a show by professional Charleston dancers, guests danced the night away to the sounds of hits from the 1950s through today.
Greenwich resident Sean Day won the event’s raffle for a 1951 MG-TD convertible roadster.
Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 2,200 professionals and trained volunteers work together to provide a wide range of responsive, innovative programs, according to its website.
