The crew will hit Cranbury Park from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The City of Norwalk is working in collaboration with the Friends of Cranbury Park, and the Student Conservation Association in addressing trail sprawl, invasives, and drainage on several of the trails (1 to 2 miles) that run through Cranbury Park off Grumman Avenue. Meet leaders Michael Mocciae, director of recreation and parks, and Ken Hughes, superintendent of parks, at the pavilion in The Great Lawn. Coffee will be provided with a continental breakfast. The event, sponsored by City of Norwalk Department of Recreation & Parks, is rain or shine.

Also Saturday, residents can choose from two hikes or a bike ride along the Norwalk River Valley Trail. The first option is an easy 3-mile (two-hour) walk on completed sections of the trail and paved walkways from Lockwood-Mathews Mansion to Calf Pasture Beach, passing the Maritime Aquarium. The second option is an easy 5-mile (1-hour) bike ride following a similar route; bike helmet required. Or you can take a moderate 3-mile (2.5-hour) hike on blazed, unimproved trail through urban woodlands along the Norwalk River from Mathews Park to Deering Pond; wear protective clothing.

All three will depart from the kiosk at 10 a.m. at the parking lot of Lockwood Mathews Park and be led by Friends of the NRVT. For questions, contact Jim Carter at 203-682-3000 or JHCinCT@aol.com.
