The exhibition, which will run until May 31, features more than 30 European-made maps and sea charts inspired by New World exploration. They were all published between 1511 and 1757, and present a study in geographic and human progress as well as a feast for the eyes.

"Maps weren't always just an app on your iPhone," Jack A. Somer, owner of the collection, said in a statement.

Somer will host the March 1 discussion from 2 to 3 p.m.

The conversation with the collector is free with museum admission, but reservations are suggested.

The Bruce Museum is at 1 Museum Drive.
