Bridgeport Staffing Firm Offers Job Help To Displaced Hurricane Victims

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport staffing and recruitment firm hopes to assist those displaced by Hurricanes Irma and Maria by helping them find temporary employment while they’re staying in Connecticut.

Engage Staffing has extended “a hand up” to residents of Puerto Rico now here, encouraging them to apply for temporary work assignments. The agency hopes to create opportunities by exploring individuals’ talents and matching them with local employers.

“These disasters have affected countless families and we are witnessing unprecedented economic loss,” said Engage Direct Michael Morgan. “We must work together to build awareness of their special needs and help them to identify employment options to carry them through this difficult time.”

Connecticut has a larger percentage of Puerto Rican residents than any other state, according to state Sen. Chris Murphy, who was in Bridgeport to discuss the storm’s effects recently. About one-fifth of Bridgeport’s population is Puerto Rican and many families are taken in loved ones displaced by the storms.
