Blogger Knows Greenwich's Secrets

Blogger Claudette Rothman boasts she is "the original Greenwich diva" and is here to keep it "real."

"Contrary to popular belief, I was the one who broke the Chris Brown and Rihanna situation because I got it from an insider before TMZ was going to run it," she said.

For the past three years, Rothman has been writing her blog, Greenwich Diva, which she calls an alternative to traditional news. When asked what she writes about, Rothman said, "Whatever I'm feeling at the time. I cover everything around the globe and I have a strong following in the U.K. and Canada."

Rothman's family emigrated from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Brooklyn in the 1970s. She attended a New York City college, where she met her husband. After college the couple lived in Westport before moving to Greenwich. They co-founded Lewis-Rothman Designs, but three years ago, when the recession hit, Rothman started her blog.

In addition to other online news sources, Rothman said she gets her information from friends in town. "I have a lot of gossip from people, but I never tell my sources," Rothman said.

Out of the blog came a novel called "Greenwich Secrets," written in collaboration with New York City resident Gerald Jones, who was originally her ghostwriter. It is a fictional account of a Greenwich housewife named Lizzy Dawson, who stumbles onto a murder mystery through her hobby of Internet blogging.

In the future she plans to continue her blog, though she hopes to bring on entertainment and sports writers to help carry the load. She also said she is in talks with a television company to produce a reality series in Greenwich along the lines of Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchise. She said they are currently casting the show. "If it becomes a hit, hopefully it will become a series," she said.
