The resident of the Glenville neighborhood was one of the many who participated in the 13th Annual Mother's Day Bike Ride at Greenwich Point.
"It's just a great way to spend Mother's Day out as a family," she said just before bicyclists left to go around Greenwich Point.
The ride continues to grow and has become an important day in the community, event director David Rafferty said.
"This is such a wonderful community event that something that people looked forward to," he said.
The event raises funds for the Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center scholarship program. Ellington Management Group stepped forward to underwrite the cost of the event. That allowed all of the money raised through event fees to go towards scholarships, he said.
The scholarship fund donates about $75,000 per year to local families and children, Rafferty said.
Not only does the event serve as a fundraiser but it is also to educate children and parents about biking safety and maintaining safe equipment.
The ride started and finished at the Old Greenwich Elementary School. Many local bike shops were on hand at registration to check out bikes, do safety inspections, check helmets and show people how to best be safe on the roads.
Food donations for the local food pantry were also accepted at the event.
