Author Who Lost Her Husband To War Speaks At Stanwich School In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – A woman widowed by war at the age of 23 has written a book about her experiences, and will discuss them in a free event at the Stanwich School in Greenwich on Monday evening.

Ruth W. Crocker’s husband died in the Vietnam War, and at first she could not deal with the sudden loss. Crocker, born and raised in Mystic, ultimately exhumed her late husband’s grave and dealt with her grief.

Crocker’s memoir, “Those Who Remain: Remembrance and Reunion After War,” was nominated for a 2013 Pushcart Prize.

Crocker’s discussion will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Stanwich School, 257 Stanwich Road, Greenwich.
