An auction featuring such items as Fashion Week tickets and a batting clinic with Derek Jeter will help provide combat helmets for American troops.
The B.E.S.T Benefit Auction will be hosted by Eilhys England Hackworth of Greenwich, co-founder of Soldiers For The Truth , and take place Oct. 15 at Richards on Greenwich Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m.
B.E.S.T. is the annual fund-raising event of Soldiers For The Truth, a foundation that advocates for Americas front line troops. It was founded by England Hackworth and her late husband, the highly decorated Army officer Col. David Hackworth.
Sports fans can bid on a soccer clinic for kids with Team USA World Cup goalie Tim Howard; a chance to crew on an Americas Cup yacht in San Diego; golfing at St. Andrews at the Masters or in Westchester County; or tickets to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami.
Foodies and wine enthusiasts can bid on dinner for 10 prepared by Raos chef Dino Gatto and served at your home; a winter escape to Whistler Resort in the Canadian Rockies; or a California wine country getaway with private wine touring by Terry Rogers, the owner of Horseneck Wine and Liquor, which is donating the beverages for the evening.
For bidders with glamour in mind, the auction will feature the chance to appear as an extra in a Lucas Foster movie and walk the red carpet on premiere night or dance time with the Rockettes.
Proceeds from the event support U.S. troops by ensuring they have the best available equipment, including helmets and helmet liners, to improve their chances of making it home alive.
