The following chefs and restaurant owners were involved in the event:
John Leggio, owner of Mima Restaurant; Chef John Ramirez of Fairway Market; Chef Matt Kay of Cedar Street Grill; Chef Leandro Manuel of Mima Restaurant; Chef Rui Correia of Douro Restaurant; Joe Kay, co-owner of Cedar Street Grill; Michael Cifone of Constellation Wines; and Lenny Carlucci of Southern Wine & Spirits.
The event drew a sold-out crowd of 74 diners and was sponsored by Cedar Street Grill and Constellation Brands.
Originally planned as a celebration of innovative Westchester cuisine, Cedar Street Grill chef and part-owner Matt Kay created the fundraising event idea with fellow chefs and friends in an effort to draw attention and support for the county’s hunger-relief efforts. Five of the region’s top chefs teamed up to prepare a delicious menu for a packed house, accompanied by world-class wines donated by Constellation Brands.
A portion of the proceeds from the $75-per-person dinner was donated to the Food Bank for Westchester, the county’s largest provider of services, resources and education to meet the needs of the 200,000 Westchester residents who face chronic food insecurity.
All of the proceeds from three raffles will also go to the Food Bank. They included a 50/50 drawing and raffles for a wine basket donated by Constellation Brands and a gift certificate to Douro Restaurant.
