GREENWICH, Conn. – Jennifer Aniston had the day off, but Greenwich residents who live on Hamilton Avenue had a front row seat to a scene being shot in an upcoming film starring the former "Friends" star.

"This is amazing. I've never seen anything like this," Becca Avila, a Greenwich High student on winter break said. "I live around here, I went to school right here. This is one of the most exciting things that's ever happened around here."

The Two Door Restaurant was transformed into "Willis' Show Bar" in 1970's Detroit for one day, as a film crew shot a barroom brawl that spills out into the street.

The scene is part of an upcoming film based on the Elmore Leonard crime novel "The Switch." The movie has yet to be officially titled.

The dates and locations of Aniston's scenes in the film are being kept under wraps to try to ward off her notorious paparazzi following.

Academy Award nominee John Hawkes and rapper/actor Mos Def , also known as Yasiin Bey, and the crew braved the cold mist on Monday to shoot the scene. The scene climaxed in a 1970s van driving after the two characters as they run down the street.

Gina Alcantara, who works at Garden Catering, had the film crew parked right in front of the restaurant. Although there were fewer customers than on a normal day, Alcantara said watching the excitement through the windows of the restaurant was worth it.

"It's my first time seeing a movie shot live. It's kind of exciting to see everything happening up close," she said. "The crew has been coming in to buy nuggets and cones, so maybe we'll go Hollywood with that."

The crew is shooting the film over the next month in various locations in Greenwich and Stamford. Monday's shoot was the only one that required a road in town to be shut down.

In addition to Aniston, Hawkes and Mos Def, the film also stars Tim Robbins ( Shawshank Redemption ), Isla Fisher ( Wedding Crashers ) and Will Forte ("Saturday Night Live").
