COS COB, Conn. --John Zimmer, president of Lyft, credits his drive for success to growing up in Greenwich.
At least that's what he said in a New York Times article , published Sunday, July 23.
In the "Corner Office" story, Zimmer said growing up in "the environment of Greenwich" -- he's from Cos Cob -- led to a certain kind of perfectionism.
"My parents didn’t put a ton of pressure on me, but Greenwich defined success in a certain way, which is material and monetary," he said in the article.
"I’m now completely over that materialism and, in many ways, I dislike it. But I think it impacted me, and I wanted to prove that I could be successful. But I’m competing with myself."
Zimmer also discussed learnings from working at the local Hyatt Regency during high school.
