Lunden, former host of "Good Morning America," underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy followed by a lumpectomy and six weeks of radiation and is now free from cancer, People.com said.

Her goal now is to help save other women from cancer by encouraging them to go to the doctor and get potentially lifesaving tests such as mammograms and colonoscopies, said People.com.

Her memoir of her cancer journey, "Had I Known," will be published in September and can be preordered on JoanLunden.com
