Already the store, known for its comfortable, colorful clothes with superior moisture-wicking properties and genuine ethos of yoga has expanded to the West Coast.
This, after being open in Connecticut for only six months -- the Greenwich store opened last September. A store in Los Angeles quickly followed in November, and another five to seven locations are planned for across the country.
The store is the brainchild of brother-sister duo Rishi and Tapasya Bali, who currently live in New York City but recognized the potential of Greenwich and the community's deep connection with yoga.
“We created YOGASMOGA to elevate people’s lives through ?the deep knowledge and essence of yoga," said Tapasya. "We were born in India at the foothills of the Himalayas and spent our formative years in the region generally considered to be the birthplace of yoga."
The name YOGASMOGA, in fact, is a nod to the siblings' Indian culture, where it’s common to rhyme words. "YOGA is the genesis of our company and SMOGA refers to things that go with yoga since we hope to bring? a little more than just yoga into our customers’ active lives," she added.? "We consider ourselves a yoga and wellness company that makes things for life."
The mission of the store is to build a unique experience for the Connecticut community, to touch its guest's daily lives and build deep, direct and lasting connections with them.
That mission includes offering items where everything is made in the United States.
The store is located at 68 Greenwich Ave. For more information, call 203-861-9642 or visit yogasmoga.com.
