Greenwich Hospital Giving Newborns Their First Book

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich Hospital began 2016 with a new tradition: every baby born at the hospital will go home with a copy of Nancy Tillman’s “On the Night You Were Born,” as part of the My First Book program.

“Studies show reading can foster bonding between parents and their children,” said Kathleen Carley-Spanier, director of community health at the hospital. “It’s also a wonderful way to promote literacy. It’s never too early to start reading to your kids.”

A Spanish edition of the book is also being made available.
