Going Green: CT Ranks Top In Water Quality In Environmental Ratings

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- What's in the water in Connecticut? Not much, according to WalletHub, who said the Nutmeg State has the cleanest water in the country in a recent rating.

Water cleanliness was just one metric used in WalletHub's overall ranking to determine the "Greenest" state in honor of Earth Day. Connecticut placed fifth overall. 

Wallet Hub rated each state in 20 metrics that were broken into three categories:

  • Environmental Quality
  • Eco-Friendly Behaviors
  • Climate Change Contributions

Connecticut placed seventh in Environmental Quality, 22nd in Eco-Friendly Behaviors and third and Climate Change Contributions. 

Vermont was ranked the greenest state overall, followed by Massachusets. New York was ranked eighth overall.
