NORWALK, Conn. – The gourmet gurus at Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar are raising the bar when it comes to “underground” foods. They have teamed up with the Urbani Group, an international purveyor of Italian truffles.
Together, they have created a Barcelona private label white truffle oil and truffle shavings. Barcelona has already begun using these in its restaurants, and now the items are available to the rest of us through Barcelona’s online marketplace. An 8.45 ounce bottle of Barcelona’s white truffle oil is available for $28, and a 7 ounce jar of the truffle shavings can be yours for $58.
To make sure you are making the most of your gastronomic investments, Barcelona will begin offering a series of cooking classes and recipes to guide you through incorporating these truffled treasures into your own cooking.
And rest assured, Barcelona officials said, these items are the real deal. “In the interest of adding ‘truffle-value’ to normal grocery store olive oil, companies have found numerous additives and artificial ingredients to imitate or enhance the aroma and flavor of these products,” explains Barcelona’s Culinary Director Adam Halberg. “The Urbani family has a long reputation built on access to the best truffle grounds in Italy and a commitment not to use false additives.”
