When Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label exec, has had his life spiral out of control and has been ousted out of his own record label by his (very business minded) partner, Saul (Mos Def), he meets British singer/songwriter Gretta (Keira Knightley) who has just been dumped by her long-time boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine). Dave has landed a deal with a major record label, gets seduced by the trappings of his new-found fame, and has an affair with a member of his marketing team.

Fortunately Gretta's world takes a turn for the better when she meets up with Dan who falls in love with her music and immediately captivated by her raw talent.

Now, from this chance encounter emerges a very sweet and totally enchanting portrait of a collaboration, which winds up being mutually transformative to the pair, as they then set to the soundtrack of a summer in New York City, as they record an “open air” album.

The struggles they meet and the way they ultimately pass thought this storm, is a most enjoyable film that deserves your attention.

The Avon Theater is located at 272 Bedford Street, Stamford.

Begin Again is Rated “R” and runs 101 minutes. It stars Keira Knightley, Hailee Steinfeld, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Catherine Keener, Mos Def and is Directed by: John Carney
