GREENWICH, Conn. -- Author, columnist and actress Arianna Huffington, who was the keynote speaker at the 11th annual Sole Sisters Luncheon at the Greenwich Country Club on April 19, received a pair of chocolate shoes created by Blue Tulip Chocolates.
The fundraising event benefitsed programs and agencies working to meet the most critical needs identified in the Greenwich United Way Needs Assessment Report.
For the first time in history, the luncheon was sold out and over $90,000 was generated during the event with help from a $30,000 grant gift from Nitron Group.
Since its inception 10 years ago, the Sole Sisters women's initiative has raised over $1 million to support Greenwich United Way efforts. The initiative was founded by a small group of Greenwich United Way volunteers. The motto "women stepping up to help others step forward" was developed and a shoe logo was incorporated to represent the initiative's mission.
Over 400 attendees received a copy of Huffingtons's new book, "The Sleep Revolution."
