GREENWICH, Conn. - Mother’s Day was especially beautiful for Teresa Ruiz Diaz this year, thanks in large part to Becker Salon of Greenwich. Diaz, a petite preschool teacher at the Armstrong Court School in Greenwich, was the winner of a Mother’s Day makeover from Salon owner Becker Chicaiza.
“I’ve never won anything before,” said Diaz, who was “amazed” by the transformation.
Chicaiza gave Diaz a sleek new hairstyle, complete with balayage highlights, which are painted freehand for a more natural look. She was also gifted with a new outfit, a bouquet of flowers and dinner for two at Douro restaurant, which she enjoyed with her 13-year-old daughter.
This is the second such contest Becker Salon has run for people who live in one of the Greenwich Housing Authority apartment complexes. In February, Chicaiza gave a Valentine’s Day makeover and dinner for two to a couple who lives at Wilbur Peck Court, a Greenwich Housing Authority property.
Chicaiza says more contests are in the salon’s future. “It’s nice to make people feel special and give them an enjoyable experience that they may not ordinarily have on their own.”
Becker Salon is located at 268 Mason St. in Greenwich.
