Who's Playing At The Capitol Theatre This Week

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – This week at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, you can catch Matchbox Twenty on Tuesday, laugh with Jim Gaffigan on Friday, and spend Saturday night with Deep Banana Blackout. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming shows:

Tuesday - Matchbox Twenty Pop rock band Matchbox Twenty will play a sold-out show Tuesday night at The Capitol Theatre.  The band rose to prominence with their debut album “Yourself or Someone Like You” and cemented their fame with the sophomore release “Mad Season,” which went platinum in 2000. Following two more albums and solo pursuits, the band released their first album in five years, “North” on June 12, 2012.  The band is vocalist and rhythm guitarist Rob Thomas, bassist Brian Yale, percussionist Paul Doucette and lead guitarist Kyle Cook. This event is for those 18 and over. It will have reserved seats in the orchestra, loge and balcony. The show was sold out as of Monday, but tickets may become available at The Capitol Theatre’s box office or event page. Tickets are $45 for seated orchestra, $75 for balcony and $95 for loge seats.

Friday – Jim Gaffigan Comedian Jim Gaffigan will be performing two shows on Friday as part of “The America Tour,” sponsored by Comedy Central. There will be an early show starting at 8 p.m. and a late show at 11 p.m. This event is for those 18 and over. Tickets are $60 for seated orchestra, loge and balcony. Saturday – Deep Banana Blackout The eight-piece outfit Deep Banana Blackout promises to put on a funky show Saturday night at The Capitol Theatre. The band is notorious for weaving their own blend of funk, jazz and jam compositions with the likes of songs by Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown and Funkadelic.   Deep Banana Blackout is guitarist and vocalist “Fuzz,” drummer Eric Kalib, bassist Benj LeFevre, vocalist Jen Durkin, saxophonist Rob Somerville, trombonist and guitarist Rob Volo, keyboardist Cyrus Madan and percussionist Johnny Durkin.  The electro-jazz funk band Kung Fu will open the show. The band features Tim Palmieri on guitar, Robert Somerville on tenor sax, Todd Stoops on keyboards, Christopher D’Angelis on bass guitar and Adrian Tramontano on drums and percussion. This event is for those 18 and over. It will have general admission standing-room only floor and reserved seats in the loge and balcony. Tickets are $25 for balcony two, $30 for floor and balcony one and $45 for loge. To purchase tickets, visit The Capitol Theatre’s box office or event page.

Doors for all shows open at 6:30 p.m., and the shows begin at 8. The Capitol Theatre is at 149 Westchester Ave., Port Chester.
