Friday, O ct. 5

Greenwich Food+Wine Festival 2012: 6 p.m. Grand Tasting Gala. Featured chefs create the menu and wineries serve top wines. Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, 100 Arch St., Greenwich.

Friday Night Chess Club: 7 p.m. National master provides instruction and supervises play. All ages and skill levels welcome. Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.

Friends Friday Films: 8 p.m. "The Descendants," with George Clooney. Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.

Saturday, Oct. 6

Bruce Museum Annual Outdoor Arts Festival: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Paintings, photography, drawings, prints, sculptures, and mixed media from more than 80 artists. Plus family activities. Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich.

Birding Gear, Gizmos, Know How for All: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Introduction to the world of birding with professional hawk-watcher Luke Tiller. All ages welcome. Audubon Greenwich , 613 Riversville Road, Greenwich.

Painting Class: Capturing a Time Through Light: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check with the Greenwich Historical Society for more details.

World of the Chipmunk: 2 p.m. Learn about the challenging life of a chipmunk and take a short hike. Audubon Greenwich , 613 Riversville Road, Greenwich.
