Greenwich United Way Oktoberfest: 7 p.m. Greenwich United Way launches its 2012-2013 Community Campaign with Bavarian biergarten, German-inspired foods and music. Loading Dock, 375 Fairfield Ave., Stamford.

Stamford Astronomy Nights - Solar Winds: 7 p.m. Explore the night sky, planets, stars and more. Stamford Museum & Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford.

Friends Friday Films: 8 p.m. "My Week With Marilyn." Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave.

Saturday, Sept. 29

“Muddy Up 4 Kids” Mud Run: 8:30 a.m. Adults and teens can run 5K over 77 acres of trails with the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich . Camp Simmons, 744 Lake Ave., Greenwich.

Girl Scout Day: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities on farm and nature center animals. Stamford Museum & Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford.

Banksville Harvestfest: Noon to 5 p.m. Includes Touch-a-Truck event, hayrides & maze, pumpkin painting, petting zoo, rescue dog demonstrations. Food by Chicken Joe's. Banksville Community House, 12 Banksville Road (off North Street), Greenwich.

Migration Full Moon Hike: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 1.5-mile hike in search of migrating birds. Ages 7 & up. Audubon Greenwich, 613 Riversville Road.
