This holiday event has become such a favorite that The Center added an event this year: Benefits will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at l’escale Restaurant & Bar, 500 Steamboat Road in Greenwich, and Thursday, Dec. 4, at Country Club of Darien, 300 Mansfield Ave. Both evenings begin at 7 p.m.

“I have attended this event every year. My friends and I think it is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season,” said Stamford resident and past Best of Show award winner Belinda Basile. “I already have my plan for this year — but I am not telling anyone.”

Upon arrival, each guest receives a fully assembled gingerbread house to decorate. While the holiday spirit fills the room during the cocktail reception, it isn’t long before the competition heats up as participants vie for one of the many recognitions awarded.

Everyone’s a winner, as each guest leaves with a gingerbread house, loads of cheer and the knowledge that this makes a difference by supporting The Center's programs. The ticket price per person is $125.

The sponsors of Gingerbread Houses & Cocktails for a Cause are Cobble Court Interiors, Juliska, Chunky Pam’s Sweet Shoppe, Michelle and Michael Diliberto, Kate and Bill Schubart, Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes, Unimin Corp., Benefit Cosmetics, The Cooper Spirits Co., New England Wine & Spirits, The Southfield Center for Development and Lexus of Greenwich.

All proceeds from Gingerbread Houses & Cocktails for a Cause will go to The Center’s crisis counseling, advocacy and education programs. Serving the towns of Westport, Wilton, Weston, Darien, Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk and New Canaan, The Center provided crisis counseling to more than 450 people and prevention education to nearly 20,000 children and adults during the last year alone. Tickets can be purchased online, by calling The Center at 203-487-0672 or info@thecenter-ct.org
