Those who are registered with the library now have the option of downloading the mobile application, where they will be able to browse thousands of movies, television programs, music albums and audio books on their mobile devices.

Elizabeth Bermel, the director of the library, said that hoopla digital provides a simple interface that shouldn’t pose a problem for most users.

“With hoopla digital, we are expanding access to materials, as we try to stay current with the latest innovations.”

Once the app is downloaded to a device, cardholders will simply need to provide their e-mail address, library card number and library PIN. Once the user is verified, content can be downloaded immediately.

Those who participate in the digital sharing can borrow as many as five titles each month. Video will be available for 72 hours, music for a week and audio books for three weeks.

Bermel added that the new system was necessary as technology continues to evolve and force libraries both locally and nationally to become more innovative in their projects.

“Technology has rapidly changed the services a public library provides,” she said. “Materials that were only available at the library are now available to cardholders through their mobile devices and computers.”
