Supervisor Says Hyde Park Needs A Town Center

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Hyde Park, while packed with history and blessed with being located on the gorgeous Hudson River, lacks a traditional town center, says its supervisor, Aileen Rohr, in a “Legislative Insight” column written for the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Not having a central location where people – especially Dutchess County baby boomers on the cusp of retirement and facing empty nests – can walk to shops and restaurants, is a problem, Rohr wrote in the Poughkeepsie Journal article.

Compact development, or making the town’s existing commercial corridors more Main Street-like, is the most obvious solution, said Rohr in her column for the Poughkeepsie Journal.
