Chappaqua has Many Weekend Choices

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y.— Those who aren’t traveling this holiday weekend have plenty of things to do around Chappaqua.

The Chappaqua farmers market is Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The market offers  local fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats and fish. The farmer’s market also offers live entertainment and family fun for the kids.

Pleasantville also has its weekly farmers market Saturday, just down Bedford Road from Chappaqua. The Pleasantville Farmers Market is larger than the Chappaqua Farmers Market.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Preserve, located at 125 Phelps Way in Pleasantville, opens this weekend. It is a great place to take in nature, go for a leisurely stroll, jog, ride horse back or cast a line into the 22-acre Swan Lake.

The July 4th Jamboree at the John Jay Homestead, just up the Road in Katonah, takes place on Independence Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting at 11 a.m., there will be a drum and fife performance by the American Colonials and a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Outdoor activities are free. The Homestead is located at 400 Route 22.

Also at the John Jay Homestead, the Bedford-Armonk Rotary Club’s Jamboree will be held in the barnyard from noon to 4 p.m. It will offer kids colonial games, an SPCA pet adoption station, a patriotic pet parade, a beekeeper, a blacksmith, music and food. Proceeds from the Rotary Club’s Jamboree will benefit the John Jay Homestead, SPCA of Westchester County and other community organizations.
