GREENWICH, Conn. -- A celebratory supper will honor the birthday of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns at Knights of Columbus in Greenwich on Jan. 23.

The Burns Supper will feature pipes, music, poetry, toasts and a full Scottish dinner. Tickets are $55 in advance or $60 at the door.

The event was created by Greenwich resident and University of Edinburgh alum Stasha Healy and Kia Heavey out of frustration over the lack of a Burns Supper in the area. The two met through Greenwich Pen Women, an organization for local writers, artists and musicians.

“Even if you have no Scottish connection, it’s a great way to shake off the midwinter blues,” said Healy.

Burns is best known in the U.S. for writing "Auld Lang Syne." His birthday is celebrated annually in Scotland with dinner, music, poetry and whisky.
