Off Sounders, Grace Notes Join Forces For A Cappella Concert In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – The Off Sounders and The Grace Notes, Greenwich’s premiere a cappella singing groups, will host a joint concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Belle Haven Club.

The Off Sounders name is based on an old Connecticut term for men who made their living off Long Island Sound by fishing, lobstering, clamming or oystering.

The concert theme is “Together Again” and marks a reunion of the groups who have not performed together since 2012. There will be a guest appearance by Fountain, an a cappella off-shoot of the Christ Church Youth Choir.

The Off Sounders were founded in 1956 by men who were nostalgic for the close harmony singing of their college days and who wanted to recapture the camaraderie of their college singing groups. The name is based on an old Connecticut term for men who made their living off Long Island Sound by fishing, lobstering, clamming or oystering. This tradition continues today with a new generation of singers who balance fine musicality with a spirit of fun and friendship.

The Grace Notes is a volunteer group of a cappella singers who have been entertaining the Greenwich community and surrounding areas for over 40 years. Their audiences include nursing homes, rehab centers, schools and community groups. The Grace Notes believe that music can inspire, delight and even heal the human soul. Their mission is to share the joy of music with the community, always striving to provide the highest caliber of performance to entertain, lift spirits and brighten hearts with the gift of music.

Tickets are $20 and are available from any member of each group or at the door at the Belle Haven Club the night of the concert.

The Belle Haven Club is at 100 Harbor Drive, Greenwich.
