Westport Police Nab California Fugitive

WESTPORT, Conn. – A man wanted in California for sexual abuse of a minor was arrested in Westport Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers spotted Jean-Paul Borowiec, 38, in the Stop & Shop parking lot while investigating an unrelated complaint. In May, a warrant with nationwide extradition was issued for Borowiec from Sonoma County, Calif. Last month, Westport police received information that Borowiec might be in the Westport area.

Police said Borowiec was uncooperative with officers when approached. He was taken into custody and charged with being a fugitive from justice and interfering with an officer. Bail was set at $500,000 and he was being held for arraignment Tuesday in Norwalk court.

Borowiec was accompanied by Pamela Josephine Wall, also of California. Police said Wall, 43, interfered with officers during the investigation. She was charged with interfering with an officer and was released on a promise to appear in court on Tuesday.
