Learn To Be A Skilled Boater At Free Greenwich Course

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A free Connecticut boating course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on two Saturdays -- May 7 and June 11 -- by the Greenwich Sail & Power Squadron in conjunction with the Greenwich Marine Police.

The classes will be at Greenwich Police Headquarters, 11 Bruce Place.

Become a skilled boater -- sail, power, paddle or jet ski. The class covers the following skills:

  • General boat handling
  •  Safe towing (water skiing & tubing)
  • Docking and anchoring
  • Radio NEW VHF/DSC 
  • Ropes, cleats, knots, all made easy 

The above skills qualifies students for a Connecticut Boating Certificate (and includes PWC/jet ski certificate).

The cost is $80 per person and includes coffee and sandwich lunch. A family discount is available.

Before the class, students will be supplied with materials, the day’s program and parking suggestions.

This is a free class. Students also receive a six-month squadron membership.
