Welcome Home Soldiers Presented By Greenwich Military Covenant of Care

Thursday, Dec 20, 2012 at 6:00pm-6:45pm

Greenwich Police Department

11 Bruce Place, Greenwich, CT

A public event will occur on December 20 with the purpose of celebrating Greenwich mothers of military servicemen & women whose service has included a deployment to one of
the battlefields of the War On Terror.

The event will also welcome home four Greenwich servicemen who have recently returned home from Afghanistan and other combat areas. They are all Greenwich High School graduates.

They include: a U.S. Army Infantry Officer, awarded the bronze star; a U.S. Marine Corp Infantry Officer; a National Guard Infantry Medic; and a U.S. Naval Officer demolition expert. At this event there will be two other program elements: CT National Guardsmen from “Alpha Company” will present to the Town of Greenwich a flag flown at their Afghanistan
battle location, as an expression of gratitude for Greenwich’s support of Alpha Company during their deployment; and the Town will honor two “fallen soldiers” who surrendered their lives through their service in the war (Lance Corporal Joseph Schiano, and Staff Sergeant Edwin Rivera).
