Born May 23, 1998, in Rhinebeck, and raised in Highland, she attended Highland Central Schools and proudly received her Advanced Regents diploma in June.

Both a scholar and an athlete, she was a member of the Honor Society and award winner at the State Science Olympiad, as well as a three-sport varsity athlete in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. She was active all-year round on a travel soccer team.

She loved music and she played trumpet in the band and enjoyed seeing shows on Broadway or attending concerts with friends. She loved nature and always could be found with a camera in hand to capture its beauty. She planned to enroll at State University of New York New Paltz this fall.

Her many accomplishments, though impressive, are only a small part of what made her exceptional. What made her truly amazing was her intensely loving spirit. She loved fiercely: she loved life in the bloom of health and in the midst of her illness.

Even in the most difficult of circumstances, she was a beacon of grace, humility, and quiet dignity.

She is survived by her parents, Teresa and Looris Pironi; brother, Luca Pironi; paternal grandparents, George and Flora Pironi; maternal grandparents, Robert and Rita Ratelle; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. She also is survived by her “other families,” as well as by countless friends and teammates.

There will be a celebration of her life from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Novellas New Paltz, 2 Terwilliger Lane, New Paltz.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SARASTRONG Foundation, 141 Macks Lane, Highland, NY 12528.
