Betty Carol Cheshire, 75, Of Glen Rock

GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Betty Carol Cheshire, 75, passed away July 27, 2016. 

Born in Passaic, she was a longtime resident of Glen Rock who recently moved to Mahwah. 

She was the wife of Lindsay Robert (Bob) Cheshire; mother of four children, Kristin Halvey of Ridgewood, Brian Cheshire and wife Lisa Anastas of Hawthorne, Julie Gluckstein and husband David of Warwick, N.Y. and Kerry Birmingham, wife of the late Craig Birmingham, of Ho-Ho-Kus; grandmother of Colin, Grace, Meghan, Caswell, Kyle, Riley and Ethan; sister of the late H.E. “Bud” Allen, the late Ruth Costello, Robert Allen and wife Jill of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Anne Marie Mahoney and husband Neil, of Fishkill, N.Y.

She grew up in Glen Rock and was a proud member of the first graduating class of Glen Rock High School. She graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent with a degree in English literature and a teaching certificate. 

She married her husband in 1963 and settled in Glen Rock to raise a family. Cheshire was a devoted member of the choir at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a former member of the Glen Rock Board of Education, the founder of St. Catharine’s pre-school program in Glen Rock and a substitute teacher in the Ridgewood school system. She loved gardening, spending her summers at Beaver Lake and being with her grandchildren.

The family will be receiving visitors from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave., Ridgewood. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 1 Passaic St., Ridgewood.
