Artists Sought For Recycled Art Contest In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Both amateur and professional artists 18 and older are encouraged to compete in the EarthFest Recycled Art Contest. Participants must apply before Sunday, Jan. 31.

Artists are invited to create works from recycled materials, demonstrating how everyday junk can be used to create new and beautiful things. Art work may be of any format and will be displayed in various participating businesses and venues throughout the downtown area.

The contest is part of EarthFest 2016, a collaborative celebration of Earth Day by the Maggie Daly Arts Cooperative and the Bijou Theatre. The competition will be judged by Robin Zella, Suzanne Katchmar and David Sepulveda.

To apply, submit a completed application/waiver, a digital portfolio of recent works and the $20 application fee to MDAC via e-mail at MDAC@kennedyctr.org.Prizes include

  • $1,000 for first place
  • $500 for second place
  • Art supply gift cards, up to $400, value for third place

Pick up application/waiver form at MDAC, 1042 Broad St. or the Bijou Theatre, 275 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport.
