Ridgefield Residents Complain About Roads Riddled With Pot Holes

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Pot holes are something that many drivers dread going over, and quite a few Ridgefield roads are riddled with them.

Pot holes are a fact of life for drivers. Here is a series of pot holes on Prospect Street next to the historic Ridgefield Library site.

Working on the pot holes is a year-round endeavor for the Ridgefield Highway Department, Public Works Director Pete Hill said Wednesday. “We had a crew out yesterday doing pot holes. They’re all over town.”

There is no list for what roads get fixed when, Hill said. It’s a matter of the public calling in areas or the police department reporting where they are. But the areas where Hill said they find the most pot holes are spots with poor drainage.

“Water is the worst thing for asphalt,” Hill said.

Unfortunately, the Highway Department can’t fix all the pot holes in town. A number of the main and most traveled roads are state highways, which means the state has fix those.

On The Ridgefield Daily Voice Facebook page, readers gave some locations of the worst pot holes in town. Several agreed with Peter Marchione that the area of West Mountain Road is “pretty bad there.”

The area at Copps Hill Road and North Street, suggested by Erika Robertson, also had several other readers in agreement.

“Ivy Hill … it’s awful!” Marge Maida Heminway posted.
