Hastings Police: Two Get in Early Morning Brawl

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Police said two intoxicated Yonkers men got into a fight in Hastings just after 6 a.m. Sunday after a night out.

Matthew Brown, a 28-year-old Yonkers resident, was arrested and charged with third degree assault, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation, after police said he was involved in a fight.  Police said Brown was intoxicated and got into a fight with a 34-year-old Yonkers man, which spilled over into Boulanger Plaza. Police said Brown repeatedly struck the victim in the face until he was knocked unconscious and suffered a head laceration.  The two men had both been in the River Roadhouse with two women before the fight, according to police.

Smashed Window- A Graham School employee told police that on March 13 he was driving on campus when a rock was thrown through the rear window of his 2009 Toyota Sienna.  Police said the man could not identify the person who threw the rock before he or she ran away. 

Suspicious Activity- Police said a man cut a fence to gain access to the British Petroleum waterfront property near the tennis courts just after 10 a.m. on March 13.  Police said a caller reported the man took pictures of the property and fled in a white Crown Victoria.  Police said the man was gone when patrols arrived.

Fraudulent Phone Calls- An 88-year-old Hastings woman told police that an unknown person identifying himself as her grandson has been calling her over the past month.  Police said the unknown person was requesting money from the woman.  Police said the woman was aware the calls are fraudulent and she said she would advise other local seniors of the calls.

Bank Account Issues- A 51-year-old Hastings woman told police that someone had fraudulently removed $649.58 from her Astoria Federal bank account. Police said the money was removed online and that the woman has reported the incident to bank authorities. 

Large Rock Thrown Through Window- Police said a homeowner on Ravine Road reported having a large rock, approximately three times the size of a softball, thrown through his window. Police said the man reported the incident and went to look for who did it, but was unsuccessful. The rock had smashed his window and rolled into his house damaging a door frame. Police are currently investigating the incident.
