VALHALLA, N.Y. – An argument between two students at Westchester Community College ended with one student getting hit with pepper spray and the other charged with a misdemeanor.

Mia Angele Almonte, 19, of the Bronx, has been charged with unlawful possession of noxious matter, a misdemeanor, Westchester County Police spokesperson Kieran O'Leary said. Almonte is also charged with two violations: second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.

College spokesperson Patrick Hennessey said Almonte and a male student had been arguing in the foyer of the Harold L. Drimmer Library around 11 a.m. when Almonte reportedly sprayed her fellow student with pepper spray.

O'Leary said the man was treated at the school and had declined further medical attention. Almonte would be arraigned Thursday evening in Greenburgh Town Court, O'Leary said.

The situation was quickly calmed down, according to Hennessey.

“Everything's back to normal,” Hennessey said about an hour after the incident occurred.
