Norwalk Storefront Decorated for Cancer Awareness

NORWALK, Conn. – The leaves have started to turn to the glorious shades of autumn, but pink is in at a Main Street business, where owner Danna DiElsi has decided to draw attention to the American Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

DiElsi has decorated the window at The Silk Touch with a pink floral piece on a black pedestal, little pink and black pumpkins, pink and black polka dot ribbon, pink lights and bright pink fabric.

"I think it's good for women to help women," said DiElsi, who lost a family member to cancer.

DiElsi uses silk to make her floral arrangements. "This is my artistic way of expressing concern and making my customers aware of everything that can be done to prevent breast cancer."

DiElsi is offering a 10 percent discount on custom floral arrangements in October, to be donated to breast cancer research. The Silk Touch is also offering a drawing of a $150 gift certificate toward a holiday silk floral piece.

DiElsi is hoping her breast cancer awareness effort will grow. "Who knows, maybe next year it will expand, we'll get a walk going," she said. "You never know."
